Blog 5 - Fonts

I thought that for the article and the contents page I would use a similar font because then there would be a overall look and link to the magazine and also the reader will not be confused or be over powered by there being to many font which would make the magazine look to busy.

I decided between two fonts for the main article in my double page spread. It is between 'Justus' and 'Geo Sans Light'. I choose these font because of there difference because 'Justus' is a serif typeface and 'Geo Sans Light' is a sans serfic typeface. If I made the main article a sans serfic typeface it will make my article less up tight, where if the main article is in a serif typeface it will make the article to busy and upper class and that will not suit my target audience so for my main article I have decided to use 'Geo Sans Light.'
Instead for the 'Justus' font I have decided that I will use it for headings on the contents pages because it will bring focus to headings and catch more attention to important pieces of text. I am also going to use it for the pull quote in the double page spread because of how eye catching it is.

I am using old school font because it links in with my target audience because most of them are in the age of 16-25 so will still be at college or at Uni. These sort of fonts will be most relatable to my target audience.

I choose to use this font for my front cover. I used this font for headings because is a font that can be four different things, as you see on the image to the left. I asked a few of my target audience to see if they preferred this font for the headings then the 'Varsity' font and they said they preferred this one because it was more basic. This makes it clearer and easier to read.

I used the 'Varsity' font for the logo of 'IN' for my magazine and for the heading of 'Rob the Rich.' I chose it for my logo because its bold and in a red it really pops on the page. It also looks good with a white back drop. I chose it for the main heading because of 'Rob the Rich' because it links in with the logo but because it is smaller it doesn't take the eye away from the logo. Different colour also help this. I asked a number of my target audience what they thought of this idea and they thought that the link would make the front cover more appealing because it would make the main subject of the issue relate and be similar to the logo/magazine.
