For my final result I used existing publications from other magazines that were in the same genre and target audience. For example; I used the logo of 'NME' to influence my logo. I thought the colour of the logo, red, I thought really brought out and attracted my target audience but to make it my own I made the colour of the red a bit deeper then the 'NME' logo. Also I liked the fact that the 'NME' logo had a great outline to it and that part of the font i thought was different and eye catching but again to mix it up I thought by making it white it would be to similar to 'NME' and it would actually be copyright so I thought by having it clear and the ph
oto as the background border it made it my own and stop it from being so much like all the other logos on the stands like 'NME'.
I also had influences from 'Q'. For example for the 'Win' on the front cover I didnt want it to be cheesy and take over the page but I wanted it to stand out. I got an idea of the colours being the same as the other puts of the magazine, blue and white and having the circles around it instead of one bond circle block from 'Q' but the difference with 'Q' was I thought just have to many circles and it took over the page to much so I chose to only do two. I thought tied in with the whole fact of the magazine being different and indie.
Another influence from 'Q' magazine was from my front cover image. I got this idea from a 'Kings of Leon' image that was on one of 'Q's' issues
. Picture shown below. I thought image was really different to an image i had ever seen on a magazine in my music genre. I changed it a bit by the fact that there is 5 band members in 'Rob the Rich' and I had the leading man at the front of the line and instead of having a black on white look I thought I would show the band as how they are. For example; it was shot at night because most of the guys in the 'Rob the Rich' are night people because they gig at night all the time and I let them be in their own cloths because it is more relatible to my target indie audience.
Also in my front cover image, like all my images, their is a clear display going on which really hit the hammer on the nail of how in my target audience, new music/indie, all the people in it are white and have a querky style, like wearing plad and hoodies etc which somes up what people who would read my magazine would be like and it is stereotyping my target audience a bit. Also in all my images the people are young, in their early 20's which is giving the idea of the whole because a young rebel and listening to different, 'cool', 'in' music.
The language I use in my magazine is simple, shot, snappy and easy to read. This is because of the my target audiences age is a young age. If the language was to complicated it will draw the readers away and make them not want to go to the effort to read the article and headings.
When I made this magazine I thought about what stores would take my magazine and ones that I would want to take my magazine. I thought about big branch stores like WHSmith which carries every magazine to nature to kids to store like the record store 'ape' in Brighton. I thought that WHSmith would get a good for the general public and the minor band type of my target audience where 'ape' would be where my majority of my target audience would be because WHSmiths is to mainstream so I thought they might not go into there to buy records where they would go to 'ape'. 'Ape' would store my magazine because 'ape' is mainly about new music and my magazine is based around new, 'in' music and the style of how the magazine is displayed like the way the photos have been edited and the language matches in with the same target audience as the stores.

I have learnt a lot from Indesign and Photoshop, at first I found it a bit tricky at first. I thought Indesign would be simpler then it actually was. I thought that you wouldn't have to go the long way around of doing everything like having to make a place box before actually placing the image on the page, which I found really annoying. Funnily enough there wasn't anything I wanted to do that Indeisgn didn't let me do. It did the colours I wanted to the spots around the band name in the double page. Photoshop is a different thing though. I really thought it would be better but because I didnt really know how to work it there was only so much I could do but from asking people I found how to shine didnt parts of the image to make it stand out. I also found it easy to do the simple things like brightening and darkening the image and making the contrast.I wish I could of made the contrast of where t
he flash really appeared on the image to disappear but Photoshop or maybe I didnt know how to do that. I think if I had more time to understand Photoshop I could of made my images better but I think from knowing nothing about either Indesign and Photoshop I dont think I did to badly at working them and they did everything I knew how to do so I was fine.
On my uploading of my magazine there is actually a image missing in the contents page of a bass player from 'Black Iced Birds' which I took that would of been my fourth image that I needed. My teacher is a eye witness to this and has seen and stated this. Apart from that I think I think if I knew more about the software I think my magazine could of been better and look more professional. Also I think if I knew about more fonts the fonts could of been better and could of made more a difference to the magazine but I would of then had to try and not get to carried away. If I had to improve on thing I think it would of been the contents page but because I didnt have time I dont think it was done as thoroughly as the other pages, because I spent most my time of them. I think I could of also made my language better with better words that were more eye catching and would draw the audience in more but because I dont no how to spell higher class words due to dyslexia I did shy away from doing so. I think over all in the whole product if I had planned better and had a better time scale I think my magazine would be better because at the beginning of the product I did a lot of work and research towards it but as time went on I lost track of time I let things slip.
